Halibut pellets are an excellent bait for everyone coarse fish. The intense cheesy-garlic aroma attracts barbel and chub, in particular, but even large carp can rarely resist it. The aroma really comes into its own in murky water, as its scent is strong enough to lure the fish to the spot.
The pellets can be used dry in a feeder, such as a maggot feeder. The aroma is slowly released and the trail of scent lures the fish to the downstream hookbait.
The pellets can also be used in a mesh feeder by simply dampening them with water. Place the required amount of pellets in a bowl and pour over some water, just enough to wet the outside of the pellets and shake well. Then wait 30 minutes for the water to be absorbed by the pellets and shake every 5 minutes to ensure the water is evenly distributed in the pellets. The pellets will soften slightly so they can be pressed into a mesh feeder.
The speed at which how they flush them out of the feeder can be altered by squeezing them tighter to keep them in the feeder longer.
