The super braided one!
The new WFT 12+1 KG is our 12+1 braided premium line for the highest demands. We use the thinnest UHMPE filaments currently available in Japan. The WFT 12+1 KG consists of 13 Japanese Ultra High Modulus PE threads. 12 PE threads are braided around a unidirectional core, which is also made of 100 percent UHMPE.
Why 12+1 and not just 13? 8-thread constructions already form a cavity in the middle of the braid. However, this is small and, in the case of the WFT FIRST 8 KG, is almost completely sealed by the applied coating.
In 12-thread constructions, the cavity is so large that water can enter here, which would negatively affect the mechanical properties of the line, especially when casting.
In the WFT 12+1 KG, the 13th thread (the +1) prevents this cavity in the construction. In addition, the 13th thread prevents the braid from being compressed, so it stays perfectly round.
The WFT 12+1 KG once again pushes the limits of what is technically feasible, as abrasion and knot resistance are up to 50% higher than 8-thread constructions. All of this with unprecedented suppleness.
